Aaron Sacco is an Austin-based artist whose work has been published in Communication Arts Illustration Annual, Digital Arts Magazine (London), Illustrator Techniques Magazine, Austin Monthly, the Austin Chronicle, Nu Magazine and the Austin-American Statesman.

He began his career as an animator on Richard Linklater’s film adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s novel “A Scanner Darkly” starring Keanu Reeves, Winona Rider, Robert Downey Jr., and Woody Harrelson. The project employed an advanced technique called “Interpolated Rotoscoping,” using proprietary software, which allowed him to draw, paint, and animate digitally on top of live action photography. The result is the stylized look of a moving graphic novel.

Once that project was complete, Aaron was eager to find another long term project he could sink his teeth into that would give him more creative control and a chance to paint. Collaborating with Bill Welker of South Austin Music he designed a mural of thirty local Austin music icons and painted it on a forty foot wall. It is clearly visible to north-bound traffic on the busy South Lamar Blvd.

Aaron was born in Beirut Lebanon to missionary parents in 1979. His family evacuated in 1987 to the island of Cyprus where he spent most of his adolescence. He received a BFA from Baylor University in 2004 and lives happily with his wife and muse Alicia Hart.

He continues to look for new creative opportunities and is currently accepting freelance work.
